PLEASE NOTE: Seger Park will be close Monday & Tuesday, November 25th & 26th due to the repaving project. The dog park will be open.

‘Love Your Park’ Day was Saturday Nov. 9

A Big “THANK YOU!!” to Andrew Freedman for leading the effort on Saturday, and also to Braden Keith and the folks who joined in to both clean up the park AND install the new windscreens for the tennis/pickleball courts.

Braden organized his crew of Pickleball players to put up the new windscreens. They look amazing. Another 15+ other volunteers showed up to rake/clean the rest of the park, filling over 100 leaf bags. They were amazing.

The new fence looks terrific. Thank you again to Braden, and to Andrew & the Seger Advisory Council. Below are some photos from the day (click each to view larger).

NOTICE: The fence surrounding the tennis/pickleball court is being replaced starting Monday Nov 4th-Monday Nov 11th. Please be aware this may take longer or may be done earlier so play will be impacted. For Parents using the other areas in the park please keep you children from this area for safety’s sake.

Darlene Alston, rec assistant at Seger Park, recently passed away peacefully.

Darlene was born in North Carolina but grew up in North Philadelphia, where she developed a deep love for nature and sightseeing. She had a special connection with children and enjoyed watching them grow, which led her to work as an elementary school lunch lady in 2006. Although she didn't belong to a church, her faith was strong, and she always kept the Lord close by her side.

Darlene was a truly sweet and heartwarming person, known for her generosity and willingness to help anyone in need. Yet, she was also unafraid to speak her mind when necessary. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Jylan and Dylan Alston, and a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren, J’yace, Za’hijah, Marabell, and Yasabell, all of whom she cherished dearly. Her two cats, Ali and Tiger, were also beloved members of her family.

For many years, Darlene served as a recreational assistant at Seger Park, where she took great pride in keeping the park beautiful and formed lasting bonds with the children who frequented Seger.
